Campaign brief..

Our task was to increase and improve the quality of donations for our chosen charity, Quidenham Hospice. We aimed it at high school students, mainly from Whymondham high and at children from Browick primary school.
We started off by looking through different campaigns like the NSPCC and Children in Need and assessing them. Then we were shown a video of Mary Queen of Shops, which told us how 75% of the donations they get are useless (like broken toys, ripped clothes, used nappies).
When we had chosen our charities we had to get in touch with them, we made a phone call to the charity explaining that we want to hep raise awareness of their charity and get them more donations, and they agreed to have us help. We went into their shop and gave them a more detailed idea of how we were going to help and they let us take a few pictures and gave us some information about the charity and the shop.
We went back to school and created a leaflet, a poster and a logo to get attention around the school for the donations. However we were not successful in getting any, we think it went wrong because it was near christmas so people had other ways to get rid of their old things and it was maybe the wrong age group.
We came up with a short t.v add but never got round to recording it, some other groups produced a performance to show at Browick primary school(theatre in education), also to raise awareness to them. These went well and when they had finished we went off into small groups and did a workshop with the children. In the worksop we talked to them about how to donate and how it can help, we played games with them and got them to come up with their own performance about donating. This went well too, although we didn't get any donations from there either.

5.2 Logo..

This is my logo to get people donating to charity shops. A logo is important because people instantly know who's brand/organisation/business's the product or idea is. Our logo represents people being helped by donations and encourages people to donate.

5.3 Letter to charity shop..

Wymondham High School,
Folly Road,
Norfolk,
NR18 OQT.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am from Wymondham high and am one of the students that said we would help raise awareness about your charity and try to get more donations for you. So far we have put lots of flyer's up around our school encouraging students and teachers to meet in a classroom at break times and give us any donations they have. Also we have been to Browick primary school and done a performance there about how much giing to charity can really help. Then afterwards we did a workshop with them on sharing and donating, we spoke to them about what types of things to give, and how to donate. Every student there seemed really up for donating there old toys and clothes by the time we had finished, they said that when they clear out to make room for new stuff at Christmas, their old stuff would go to the charity shop. We are still working on getting you even more donations.

Yours faithfully, Jasmine Ayton.

5.4 My trip to Browick primary school..

Today we went on a trip to Browick school in Whymondham, i enjoyed myself and i think most of the children did too. The performances went well even though we were missing a few of the main characters. The six people in my group, Nina, Lauren, Holly, Elliot, Charlotte and Freddie took a class of 28 of the students. All the activities we did went well and it seemed pretty successful. We took them into smaller groups of four with one of us but i teamed up with Lauren and took a group. We got them to do little performances that reflected what should have happened in Holly and Elliot's earlier little performance. This also went quite well but some of them got a bit worked up. I think the trip was a success although none of the children brought in any donations, but they did seem very up for giving donations in the future and making sure they share with friends and family. I dont think the children brought in donations because maybe they wernt quite sure what giving to a charity shop meant, were too young to donate or the point wasnt made clear enough.

5.1 Why is Barnardo's controversial?

In 2008 Barnardo's made a television advert that included a girl being hit by her father, taking drugs, mugging someone and getting arested. The advert recived 400 complaints because adults said that it was inapropriate for children that may be watching. but Barnardo's said that it had being created to show that every child, no matter what there background can break the viscious circle of disadvantage that leads young people in to trouble. But the The Advertising Standards Authority cleared Barnardo's t.v ad.

5.2 Our poster/leflets/flogo..

This is my groups leaflet/poster to encourage people to donate and give them general information about donating, how it can help and different charities. Its is important to create leaflets and posters because it tells people how donating will help someone.

5.4 Donations..

Last Tuesday we didn't get any donations so we are going to try and aim our campaign at teachers/adults because students dont seem very up for giving any donations. We are putting up posters over the school, particuly in the staff room, giving them flyers and giving a note to teachers to read out in form tim, so they will al be informed about it and hoepfully help us.

5.1 Understand the nature and purpose of campaigns.

Children in need..
The campaign is about positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Their vision is to make sure every child is supprted in order to reach their potential. Every penny donated to the charity goes towards helping the less fortunate children accros the UK. They are able to keep this promise because they use investment income and gift aid to cover all costs. Thanks to the public and thier donations, sponsors, fundraisers, school, buissness ect they are able to support many young people under the age of 18.They help children who suffer from mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioural or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect. They aim their appeal at absoloubtley anyone who can afford to give a small or large amount of money to help the less fortunate children. Every year the charity hold a huge t.v. event hosted my Terry Wogan. The show includes music and performances from many famous people from around the world, in order to help raise money. These celebrities and normal people also set up massive fundraising events like sponsered runs and similar activities. Last year the charity raised an amazing £39 million, despite the recession ..This is evidence that the campaign is extremely successful.

5.3 My day out in Wymondham..

Today we took a trip into Wymondham town centre, we visted our Book shop and our Charity shop.

First we went to the but shop as part of our artefact project, we found out that the shop (The Book Fountaion) sells a variety of books including; childrens books, study books and teenage books. The shop owner had been working there for five years but he said the previous owner had had the shop for around 12 years. All the books are from Britain and his suppliers are from Norwich and Sussex. We video the interview and took some pictures.
Next we went to the Charity shop (break childrens hospice) where we interviewed a few of the shop workers and were given some leaflets and information to help us with our campaign project. We also took some pictures of the stock.

We also have a video to upload on here that will give more information.
